What Teen Anxiety and Overwhelm Can Look Like
Being a teenager today is a lot. Sometimes the struggle is loud, and sometimes it’s quiet and easy to miss. It can look like anxiety that shows up as worry, perfectionism, or avoiding things they used to enjoy. Pulling back from friends or activities. Trouble focusing or sleeping. Being hard on themselves in a way that’s tough to watch. Big feelings they don’t always have the words for yet.
Teens don’t always open up easily, and that’s okay. My work is about meeting them where they are, earning their trust, and helping them feel genuinely understood, not lectured or fixed. When a teen feels safe and understood, real change becomes possible.
HOW I CAN HELP
Support That Fits How Teens Actually Work
Connection comes first. Once a teen feels safe, the right tools can do their work. Here’s how I help.
Relational Talk Therapy (where it starts)
A safe, judgment-free space is everything for a teen. I love working with this age group! Together we can build self-trust, work through what’s weighing on them, and figure out who they’re becoming. I connect easily with young people, and that relationship is the foundation for real change.
Neurofeedback
For teens who feel things more than they can say, or who are wary of “talking to someone,” neurofeedback offers a low-pressure way to ease anxiety and improve focus without having to talk through everything.
EMDR
If a difficult or painful experience is part of the picture, EMDR helps a young person’s brain process it gently, so it doesn’t keep shaping how they feel.
Self-care looks different for young people, and so does therapy. We meet teens where they are and build from there.
A NOTE ON NEUROFEEDBACK FOR TEENS
A Low-Pressure Option for Teens Who Aren’t Sure About Therapy
Adolescent brains are still developing, and they can get stuck in patterns of anxiety, distraction, or being constantly keyed up. Neurofeedback gently helps a teen’s brain learn to regulate itself, which can mean calmer moods, better focus, and steadier sleep.
It’s non-invasive, with no medication and nothing painful, and because it doesn’t depend on a teen being chatty, it often works beautifully for young people who aren’t sure about traditional therapy. For many, it’s simply relaxing while their brain does the learning.
My approach is symptom- and standards-based, which means we focus on how the anxiety or overwhelm actually shows up in your teen’s daily life and the real changes they feel, rather than on brain maps or charts.

Very common, and completely okay. A lot of my work is about earning trust and meeting teens where they are. Neurofeedback in particular lets a teen experience real change without having to talk through everything, which often helps them open up in their own time.

Yes. Neurofeedback is a gentle, non-invasive way to help a teen’s brain settle, which can ease anxiety and improve focus and sleep. My approach is symptom- and standards-based, so we focus on the real changes a teen feels day to day.
